Boulevards is always looking for local contacts in the cities on the Boulevards. One position we are seeking to fill in many cities is the Moderator.

The Moderator (which starts out as a volunteer position) serves as the "town mayor" in each Boulevard city. To that end s/he spends approximately 8-15 hrs/week (more as the system grows and hits per city increase) performing the following duties:

  • Answer email questions and keep track of email for a letters page and track possible content/design contributors.

  • Hit page everyday to check for expired links.

  • Develop weekly "hot picks" for Boulevards home page and city main page, in coordination with content manager.

  • Add new links every two weeks.

  • Work with freelancers and intern(s) to develop original content, within budget.

  • Create an index of local personal web pages for the "people" section.

  • Work with an editor to create an insider's guide to the city.

  • Add new nodes (such as a literary or outdoors section) and update current nodes (film, dining, clubs, etc.) as needed (at least monthly).

  • Do bi-weekly memo/phone call with production manager Stephanie Gonsalves and/or editor Danny Feingold.

  • Serve as moderator of any chat rooms that get created and scout out local celebs/persons of interest/people coming through town (book tours, concerts, lectures, etc. ) for special chats.

  • Keep an eye on other local sites and keep Boulevards staff abreast of changes among other major players.

  • Generally serve as a lively, helpful and opinionated point of reference for any and all who come to the site.

Please email your resume or list of qualifications, plus clips or URLs of your work, to [email protected]. Make sure to include how to contact you by both email and phone.

Thanks again for your interest in Boulevards, a community of city sites with perspective.

Stephanie Gonsalves, Online Production Manager
